Practical Hints For Discovering God's Specific Will For Your Life

The new Christian upon receiving the Holy Spirit almost immediately begins to seek God's will. They instinctively know that God must Mybestcapri a plan in which they can serve Redfashionhalter through good works. But for some Christians "God's Will" is a chilling phrase. Some spend their lives searching for it, and it eludes them. Others claim to be smack dab in the Matteblack Mybestcapri it all the time. So, how do you Discover God's Specific Will For Your Life?

Paul wrote that believers should "...be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men." Titus 3:8. As we seek to do God's will through good works, you and others through you will profit, and God will be glorified, because He has good works planned specifically for you to accomplish.

A new Christian's knowledge is limited. Yet he is on fire and is anxious to know God's will for his life. He has not learned patience yet and often finds himself in a Whitebeachskirt of a dilemma. So how do we find God's will?

When I Bellsconce first saved, I was so anxious to know what God was going to do in my life that I was in constant turmoil. My pastor lovingly explained that I would have to be patient and let God show me His specific will as I grew into spiritual maturity through knowledge of His Word. Though I wasn't ready to be patient, he gave me some advise that helped me to hang on.

TO KNOW GOD'S WILL IS TO DO GOD'S WILL

In a general sense, God's will is perfectly clear. He wants us to love Him, trust Him, be obedient to Him, and to live our lives for Bellsconce The sum total of scripture expresses God's general will for your life. As we grow into spiritual maturity through knowledge and obedience to His Word, His specific purpose for our life will be revealed.

We must go through periods of trials and tribulations to strengthen us, and to prepare us for ministries that God has specifically purposed for our life.

DISCOVERING GOD'S SPECIFIC WILL Mybestcapri YOUR LIFE

Tragically, many folks grow discouraged because they can't put their finger on this. We have decisions that we need to make daily. And we want those decisions to be in the perfect will of God. But many forget the Holy Spirit is leading them every day towards that perfect will. Be patient.

As a baby did you give up when you first tried to walk? If you failed a spelling test in school did you quit using words altogether? No!

We are not perfect. We are "being perfected". In this earthly life we are not going to achieve God's perfect will. We are going to aim for it. We are going to come as close as we can. We are going to do our best. But perfection will have to wait for heaven.

GOD MAKES ALLOWANCES FOR YOUR IMPERFECTIONS

His allowance is called grace and is delivered to us by Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.

God also provides a guidebook through the Bible. If we were expected to be perfect and sinless, we would hardly need a guidebook, huh?

A missile or a rocket goes up into space carrying a guidance system. But the guidance system doesn't come into use until after takeoff. If the engineers expected the missile to fly perfectly, they wouldn't bother to build the guidance system would they? But they must make corrections over the course of the flight.

God expects to make guidance adjustments over the course of your earthly flight. He knows your weaknesses better than you do, just as the engineers at NASSA headquarters in Houston know the inner workings of the spaceship better than the astronauts inside it do.

God has an investment in Bellsconce He is not the author of confusion. He will guide you in His time, by His method, which will bring you to the purpose which He has designed specifically for you.

PRACTICAL HINTS FOR DISCOVERING GOD'S SPECIFIC WILL FOR YOUR LIFE

1. IF IT CONTRADICTS GOD'S WORD, FORGET IT - The Bible is your roadmap to all decisions. No short cuts or detours allowed. If it doesn't agree with the Bible, it isn't God's will.

2. YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN TO BE IN GOD'S WILL - Don't bother seeking God's will if you haven't given your heart and life to Christ.

3. NOBODY REVEALS GOD'S WILL AS WELL AS GOD - That means to spend time in prayer. Ask God to speak to you by His Spirit to your spirit. God may reveal His will to you by some other method - a Whitebeachskirt a book, etc - but He will not reveal His will at all if you aren't spending time in prayer.

4. OPEN DOORS - If God doesn't want you to step through it He will slam it shut. However you may try the same door again later after you have gained more knowledge and spiritual maturity and He may allow you to step through. Some folks get it backwards. They sit in a room full of doors and wait for God to open the proper one. As Christians we must be aggressive, prodding and searching for opportunities. Explore all the options.

5. FOLLOW YOUR GUT - this is a crude but accurate way of saying, "Listen to that still small voice inside of you." This is your spirit speaking. It is your conscience. It is that invisible internal part of you where the Holy Spirit so often works. If you feel uneasy or restless about something, it's probably not God's will for you. When in doubt, don't.

6. ASK OTHER CHRISTIANS - God will not always affirm His will through the counsel of others, but He often will. Be sure their suggestions agree with the Bible.

7. AS YOU SEEK GOD'S WILL, CONCENTRATE ON THESE VERSES OF SCRIPTURE:

John 14:16-18 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; Mybestcapri the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Jesus promises the Holy Spirit will counsel and comfort you as you seek God's will. He also noted, the unbeliever does not have the comforter to guide them.

John 16:12-14 "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

In this scripture the Holy Spirit is speaking. There is so much He wants to tell you, but you may not be ready. When the father tells Him you're ready He will reveal it to you.

Ephesians 5:18-21 "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

This scripture stresses the importance of living in the spirit, and praising God from the bottom of your heart, and serving each other to show respect to God. When you do this you will find yourself in a better position to receive God's will.

GO FOR IT!

Once you've determined God's will, go for it. Be obedient, not reluctant. Don't be timid and don't look back.

God doesn't want you to be confused. As He reveals His will to you, trust Him to be showing His best for you. God's will - whatever that may be - will be an expression of love to you from the Father. It will be the most fulfilling course you could possibly take.

IN CONCLUSION: God has one purpose for every Christian. Mark 16:15 "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

Bringing others to Christ doesn't have to be a struggle. It can be as simple as sharing "What you love to do" with others.
